Taklimat Penempatan Murid Prasekolah Sesi 2011 dijalankan dengan 20 orang murid yang mendaftarkan diri pada hari ini. Hadir bersama ialah Penolong Kanan Hal Ehwal Murid, Pn Hjh Latipah Bt Abdul Manap untuk membantu dalam pengurusan taklimat ini. Guru Prasekolah, Pn Norashikin Baharuddin dan pembantu beliau, Pn Shafiza Hamid sibuk dengan urusan mengutip yuran pembayaran dan menyukat badan murid-murid untuk menempah uniform dan baju T dan seluar trek.

Murid-murid yang comel ini nampak ceria dan di antaranya ialah anak-anak bekas murid sekolah ini. Sesi persekolahan akan bermula pada 3 Januari 2011. Sekolah akan bermula pada 8.00 pagi pada Hari Selasa hingga Jumaat kecuali pada Hari Isnin , ia bermula pada 7.30 pagi untuk perhimpunan mingguan. Waktu tamat ialah 12.00 tgh setiap hari .

Selamat Datang diucapkan kepada semua murid baru . Semoga gembira belajar di sekolah ini.

New Facelift For SK Selama

With the construction of the new 4-storeyed building and the widened compound , it is hoped that this school will venture forward into achieving excellence in all fields.

The knowledge of ICT is indeed a necessity in this age of globalisation. We hope that we can enjoy a better ICT environment just like as an established SMART School, where the networking system is really functioning. We have plans to have a more powerful wireless system to cover the whole school area. Right now, we are very frustrated with the wireless system which is too slow though we've upgraded it . Still have to bear with School Net and unfunctioning IT equipment which is indeed a disappointment here.

Luckily, for about a year we have enjoyed the wonderful service of the CiTAKU NCER Digital Lab and both teachers and pupils did benefit a lot on ICT knowledge and application. Its facilitator, En Nur Fadly Hadi b. Zulkiply has been dedicatedly handling this lab. Courses and training sessions have been carried out. Everything was going on fantastically well until we received bad news. I was shocked myself. I remembered how I excitedly suggested to the Pengarah ICT Perak and others during an ICT Seminar in Kampar that it is a dream to have an ICT Project being offered to this school about 2 years ago. It was like a dream come true and it really helped uplifted our spirit towards ICT knowledge when the CiTAKU NCER Lab was finally built here.

However, just after 16 wonderful months of operation, it is facing a big problem. This urgent matter can only be solved by the top education administrators. Whatever it is all of us and the community around hope this CiTAKU Lab will survive and serve us continuously. Money spent on this project will be well spent. So, let's pray hopefully that our CiTAKU NCER Lab will still be around for a long time.

SK Selama which is acknowledged as Sekolah Perkasa , second band hopes that in another few years will become a Sekolah Prestasi Tinggi. Having won the Anugerah Sekolah Cemerlang Peringkat Kebangsaan 2008 for the rural school category, we hope this school will continuously maintain its high standard. With its motto, "System Is Power", those who have the love for the school will strive on to achieve excellence in academic, co-curricular activities and character. We hope to produce pupils who are all-rounders and those who still remember their alma mater even years after they have left the school.

For the sake of giving opportunities for our ex-pupils to be in touch with the school, reconnect with it and reunited with their ex-classmates or schoolmates, we have set up a wonderful networking system through ICT media. There is the official school portal http://www.skselama.net/v7 , Alumni SK Selama in Facebook Group and SK Selama Jalan Menteri also in Facebook Group. There is a large number of successful ex-pupils whom we believe will be ever willing to contribute towards the advancement of their alma mater. The school needs funds to help in financing their ICT projects for example. Definitely, we have to refix the whole wireless system, intercom system and purchase lots of new books for the new library. We hope our ex-pupils will contribute in many ways to help their old primary school. The Persatuan Bekas Murid SK Selama or Alumni will surely have to be more active in this cause.

Everything will work out fine as we think positively. Even this blog needs a new facelift soon. The other P&P blog is the ENGLISH PANEL SK SELAMA too needs some attention and improvement.

This year begins with the burning spirit to fulfil our dreams and aspirations. SK Selama is going all out to ensure a year full of interesting developments especially in ICT among its teachers and pupils.

Now, with the NCER CiTAKU Digital Lab besides our own computer lab, the headmistress, Pn Hjh Jamaiyah said there is no reason for us to lag behind others in IT knowledge. She expressed the hope that the school will achieve better UPSR results and excellence academically and in co-curricular activities. Pupils should maintain a good standard of discipline and should avoid breaking school rules. They should focus more on studying and preparing for tests and examinations. As all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy and Jill a dull girl, pupils should know how to divide their time between work and have fun too while playing.

Our school hopes that its formal portal http://www.skselama.net/v7 will be able to draw more members through its membership campaign beginning this year. This portal is a media to reach out to all by providing updated news and information, announcements and important links. Feedbacks, ideas and comments are welcome so that there is improvement.

This blog S.K. SELAMA-SYSTEM IS POWER at its web address http://skselama.blogspot.com was constructed last year when the school participated in the District Level Anak Perak ICT Competition to produce educational blogs. Thanks to the cooperation among its participants who used the Google Web 2.0 Tools for their project entitled, "Waste Disposal Affects Our Environment ." Though the team did not win any prize, the contest had spurred an interest among the participants and many of their friends to start blogs of their own. It was a fruitful project despite of time constrain and other challenges. It was a good start indeed.

2010 calls for the construction of more educational blogs at least for all major subjects besides the co-curriculum, School Resource Centre or Excellence in Examination blogs. Well, it is easier said than done but we must remember, if there's a will there's a way.

To prove that it is serious to achieve its objectives, the English Panel of the school had already published its own blog recently and will be improving on it from time to time. Do feel free to visit http://englishpanelskselama.blogspot.com .

The ICT Development Committee this year is led by my humble self, Mdm Oon Lay Wah and it comprises of 16 other teachers. These members are also helping in managing the school official portal. Hopefully, we will have full cooperation among all these teachers and selected pupils to see that the ICT projects of educational blogs and portal is a success.

It is hoped too that the whole school will be able to go online and download files easily and fast. Though the school had been fixed with wireless for three years now, the reception had always been weak. Hopefully, we can change to streamyx very soon to overcome this problem.

Majlis Perjumpaan Bekas Murid SK Selama berjaya diadakan pada 22 Sept. 2009 . Persatuan Bekas Murid SK Selama Jln. Menteri memberi peluang kepada semua bekas murid untuk pulang ke sekolah rendah mereka. Mereka dapat bertemu kembali dengan kawan -kawan lama untuk mengeratkan silatulrahim. Selain itu, mereka dapat menabur bakti kepada sekolah dengan pelbagai cara. Ada yang memberi sumbangan kewangan, tenaga dan ide. Ahli Jawatankuasa telah bermesyuarat untuk membuat rancangan untuk persatuan ini. Harap sekolah dan murid-murid menerima manafaat daripada usaha ini. Setinggi-tinggi terima kasih diucapkan semua yang telah membantu menjayakan aktiviti persatuan ini.

Today, the world faces problems caused by waste disposal and it is time we play our role to save the environment.

Waste management is important so that we can dispose off the waste without harming the environment or health of the society.

Reducing, reusing and recycling items should be practised by all. Educating people about saving the environment from a young age is very important. Unwanted items could be useful to others and recyclable items could be reprocessed into other useful items.

People should understand the consequences of their irresponsible actions such as dumping rubbish into the rivers or in public places. The local authorities as well should take action against the culprits and most importantly the negative attitudes of people need to change.

The whole community should rise and join hands to make a difference, that is to make the environment a cleaner and safer place to live in.

What is waste?

Waste is an unwanted substance. It is known as rubbish,trash,garbage or junk depending on the type of material. Living things dispose of waste or toxins from their bodies. There are many waste types which include municipal solid waste, commercial waste and hazardous waste. Waste can be divided into its physical, chemical and biological characteristics.

Solid wastes are waste materials that contain less than 70% of water. They are household garbage,some industrial waste, some mining wastes, and oilfield wastes such as drill cuttings.

Liquid wastes are usually wastewater that contain less than 1% solids. Such waste may contain a lot of dissolved salts and metals.

Sludge is between liquid and solid. Such wastes may contain high concentrations of dissolved salts and metals. Sludge is a class of waste between liquid and solid. They usually contain between 3% and 25% solids, while the rest of the material is water dissolved materials.

Some components of wastes have economical value and can be recycled once correctly recovered. Waste that some people discard may be useful to others. Waste materials are a valuable resource and people should take advantage of this.

Biodegradable waste such as food waste and sewage is broken down naturally by microorganisms. Uncontrolled disposal of biodegradable wastes can cause the release of green house gases that are bad for health as they can cause climate change.

Waste management

Waste management is the collection, transport, processing, recycling or disposal and monitoring of waste materials. It is done to reduce their effect on health and environment. Waste management can involve solid,liquid,gaseous or

radioactive substances with different methods for each.

Waste management practices differ for developed and developing nations, for urban and rural areas and for residential and industrial producers. Management for non-hazardous residential and institutional waste in town areas is usually

the responsibility of local government authorities, while management for non-hazardous commercial and industrial waste is usually the responsibility of the generator .

Waste pollution - the impact on the environment.

Littering

Littering is the most common visible form of solid waste pollution. The most common irresponsible practice is disposing of waste in public places. Despite signboards forbidding littering, the public still ignore them and continue littering.

Marine debris

Marine debris known as marine litter, is human-created waste that has been deliberately dumped or accidentally become afloat in a lake, sea, ocean or waterway. Four fifths of the ocean debris is seaward from landfills, and washed seaward by storm drains. Other forms of pollution include illegal dumping and leachin

Illegal dumping

Illegal dumping is disposal of materials on private or public land especially in remote areas. Leaching is the process by which contaminants from solid waste enter soil and often ground water system, contaminating them.

Disposal Methods

Landfills

Disposing of waste in a landfill involves burying the waste which is a common practice in most countries.

Landfills were often established in abandoned or unused quarries, mining voids or borrow pits. Plastics, metals and glass remain in landfills for millions of years before they break down.

Properly managed landfill

A properly designed and well-managed landfill can be a hygienic and relatively inexpensive method of disposing of waste materials. A modern landfill has methods to contain leachate such as clay or plastic lining material.

Deposited waste is normally compacted to increase its density and stability and covered to prevent attracting mice and rats. Many landfills have landfill gas extraction systems to extract the landfill gas. Gas is pumped out of the landfill or burnt in a gas engine to generate electricity. Tractors carry loads of sand and soil to fill up the landfills layer after layer. Some landfills are turned into parks and residential areas.

Poorly managed landfill

Older, poorly designed or poorly managed landfills can create environmental impacts such as wind-blown litter, attraction of vermin and generation of liquid leachate. Another byproduct of landfills is gas composed of methane and carbon dioxide which is produced as organic waste breaks down . This gas can create odour problems or unpleasant smell, kill vegetation, and is a greenhouse gas.

Rats, stray dogs and flies are a common sight. People cannot bear the unpleasant smell when the wind blows it to their house. It is very unhealthy to live near a poorly managed landfill.

Incineration

Incineration is a disposal method that involves combustion of waste materials. Incineration converts waste materials into heat, gas,steam and ash. Incineration is carried out both on a small scale by individuals and on a large scale by industry. It is used to dispose of solid,liquid and gaseous waste.

It is a practical method of disposing of certain hazardous waste materials such as biological medical waste. Incineration is common in Japan where land is scarce. Waste -to- energy or energy-from-waste are broad terms for facilities that burn waste in incinerators

Recycling Methods

PVC, LDPE, PP, and PS (see resin identification code) are also recyclable, although these are not commonly collected. These items are usually composed of a single type of material, making them relatively easy to recycle into new products. The recycling of complex products (such as computers and electronic equipment) is more difficult, due to the additional dismantling and separation required.

Plastic recycling is recovering scraps or waste plastic and reprocessing the material into useful products.

Because of the many types of plastics , they each carry a resin identification code and must be sorted before they can be recycled.

Paper can be recycled by reducing it to pulp and combining it with pulp from newly harvested wood as the quality of the paper decreases after recycling. Some types of paper are difficult to recycle

Glass can be collected by trucks and bottle banks . It may be sorted out into colour categories. At the glass recycling plant, the glass cullet is cleaned. The cullet is crushed and added to a raw material in a melting furnace. It is blown or melted into new jars or bottles.

Aluminium cans,scrap metals, appliances and building materials are detected by electro magnets. They are melted down and turned into new metallic products.

Textile or clothings and shoes can be sorted out and donated to the needy. This recycling practice is good. In fibre reclamation mills, textiles are sorted out according to types and colours. The recycled textiles are redyed . Therecycled yarn can be woven or made into cloth.

Timber recycling is popular as consumers would buy recycled timber products as they would like to protect the trees and forest from being destroyed.

Greenpeace viewed recycled timber as an environmentally friendly product.

Biological Reprocessing

Composting

Waste materials that are organic in nature, such as plants, food scraps and paper products can be recycled using biological composting to decompose the organic matter. The resulting organic material is then recycled as mulch or compost for agricultural or landscaping purposes.

In addition, water gas from the process (such as methane) can be captured and used for generating electricity. This method is to quicken the natural process of decomposition of organic matter.

An example of waste management through composting is the Gre en Bin P rogram in Toronto , Canada, where household organic waste like kitchen scraps and plant cuttings are collected in a dedicated container and then composted.

The energy content of waste products can be harnessed directly by using them as direct combustion fuel or indirectly by processing them into another type of fuel.

Recycling through thermal treatment ranges from using waste as a fuel source for cooking or heating, to fuel for boilers to generate steam and electricity in a turbine. Solid waste can also be converted into solid , liquid and gas products. The g as is then burnt to produce electricity and steam.

Avoidance and Reduction Method

Waste Minimisation

The principle is to reduce, reuse and recycle.

Waste reduction is important. Consumers must reuse second-hand products and repair broken items instead of buying new. Products must be designed so that they are refillable or reusable such as cotton bags instead of plastic bags. We must discourage the use of disposable products such as styrofoam boxes. We can use tiffin carriers and tupperwares instead.

Old clothes and shoes can be donated to the poor. Plastic sheets and big pieces of cloth are sent to countries which need them.

Beautiful and creative handicrafts are made out of unwanted items. They are valuable and sold as souvenirs and presented as gifts to loved ones. Unique structures and landscaping are created from recycled items.

Local authorities or private industry handle waste collection. Where there is no formal waste collection system like in some rural areas, rubbish is burnt and buried. Some countries practise curbside collection. Big recycling bins are provided.

Residents of the area separate their rubbish before throwing them into the bins. They bring their recyclable items to collecting centres. Some agencies or groups of people will provide them and send them to be recycled properly.

However mostly, the recycling process is expensive and getting the public cooperation is difficult. Therefore, many people just dump their rubbish anywhere.

Education And Awareness

Education and awareness in the area of waste and waste management is more important globally. The Talloires Declaration shows concern about the seriousness of environmental pollution and degradation and the depletion of natural resources.

Air pollution , accumulation and distribution of toxic wastes, destruction and depletion of forests,soil and water. The depletion of the ozone layer and emission of "green house" gases threaten the survival of humans and other living things. There is a need to prot ect the earth and environment for the future generations.

Various organisations such as SAM ( Sahabat Alam Malaysia )or Friends of The Earth Malaysia, Friends of the Earth International, Greenpeace and others. They organise awareness campaigns and educate people about the importance of the appropriate way of disposal of rubbish and recycling recyclable items. School teachers and parents together play an important role in educating the young. They should be good role models and practise what they teach.

Supermarkets and private companies could sponsor environmental projects such as recycling and cleanliness campaigns.

REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE - LET'S SAVE THE ENVIRONMENT

22 JUNE, 2009- The Recycling Campaign was launched in S.K. Selama to instil awareness among its pupils and staff here of the importance of recycling. With its theme "Reduce, Reuse and Recycle", it is hoped that everyone will play their part seriously to save the environment. In a simple ceremony during the weekly assembly, the headmistress, Pn Hjh Jamaiyah reminded the pupils especially to use the recycle bins correctly. The ICT team members, Ikhwan, Ameer and Aliff received a token of appreciation for participating in the Anak Perak PPD LMS ICT Competition entitled," Waste Disposal Affects The Environment". By using Web Application 2.0 , which includes Google Docs, Picassa Web Album, Google Search, Google Present, Twitter and blogs , the members of the team share their findings and present their assignment. It is a

wonderful new experience for these young boys especially.

13 June, 2009, The S.K. Selama Alumni Committee Officially Formed

It is definately a day to remember as the Alumni Committee is officially formed today. It is hoped that the Alumni will serve as a platform for all ex-pupils to meet, interact with one another and contribute to their alma mater. For a start, this committee will be working hard on a campaign drive to encourage as many ex-pupils as possible to be members of the alumni and the portal. Whatever it is, we all have to join hands together to ensure success in any project. Congratulations to the committee members who have been appointed into the committee. Dr Mahmood Othman, UiTM senior lecturer is its Chairman. The two Vice Chairman are Mr Lingaeswaran a/l R. Subramanian,PJK and Mr Eddie Chua Soo Seong, PPT. Larut Matang & Selama District ICT Month 2009

15 June - 15 July is ICT Month for Larut, Matang & Selama District 2009. Hopefully, all teachers ,pupils and even parents are aware of the importance of ICT knowledge. Thus, are interested to learn and improve on their computer skills. Teachers and pupils must grab the opportunity to learn theseskills and apply them effectively in the teaching & learning process.

With the introduction of Web 2.0 application it is hoped that both teachers and pupils are able to work as a team even from their own homes to complete a project. On top of the school computer laboratory, the cITaKU Lab run by facilitator, En Fadly Hadi from the NCER team provides ICT knowledge to both the teachers and pupils.

The ICT Camp from 1 to 12 June, 2009 has benefitted the Yr 4 and 5 pupils. These pupils have learnt to create emails, surf the websites for information, create greeting cards and their own blogs. Hope, the S.K. Selama ICT Team which is participating in the Anak Perak UPSI ICT Competition will gain a lot of new experience as its members venture into this new project. We believe in, " Nothing Venture, Nothing Gain".

In addition, it will relaunch the recyling campaign in school in order that pupils will use the recycle bins correctly. With the cooperation from the Art and Living Skills teachers, the pupils will be able to create beautiful posters and make handicrafts from recycled objects.

Then, only will the ICT Project entitled,"Waste Disposal AffectsThe Environment" be effective in raising awareness among all pupils in the school to play their role in keeping the environment clean. Thanks for your cooperation in making this ICT Month a great success.

It is an environmental issue and the title of our project is "Waste Disposal Affects Our Environment"

What saddens the whole world is the disposal of rubbish in the wrong way. In all forms rubbish, garbage or waste is disposed off in different ways. However, it is the bad attitudes of human beings that had caused many problems to the environment. Thus, it had affected the health of human beings badly , destroyed marine life and the beauty of natural surroundings.

What gave me the idea to pick this topic for my group project was what I saw when passing through the jungle of Pondok Tanjong on the way to Taiping or back to Selama. These photos speak a thousand words. It is already shocking to the monkeys here which had found their habitat being destroyed and intruded now it is getting worse.

The so called 'generous ' human beings have been throwing plastic bags of 'food' or what nots for the monkeys, even matresses for the romantic monkeys to sleep on, I guess. What a shame, not only have human beings done enough destruction, now to make it worse, they have created an eye-sore in the area. Stretches of rubbish are strewn on both sides of the road despite the warning sign reminding them not to feed the monkeys or litter there and the condition has been like this for months and nobody cares to clear it.

Kids in the ICT Team have been given tasks to do and I hope they are learning fast.

S.K. Selama celebrated its Golden Jubilee or 50th Anniversary in October, 2004 in a grand scale. It had also won the Excellent School Award at the district level for a few times and at the state level too. Last year, it won the national award for the Excellent School For Rural Primary Schools as you can see in the photo on the first page of this blog.

Hopefully, the school will be able to maintain its excellence and bring back the glory of yesteryears too . Having been nominated for the Cluster School Award for the rural school category by the district education office, it is quite challenging for the whole administration and everyone involved. However, what is important at the end of the day is our core business, that is the pupils who will gain in terms of a wholistic education. Another being the teachers and staff will always be happy coming to school to work and are always healthy and not overstressed.

For more than 50 years this school had produced thousands of pupils who are now spread out all over the world living their own lives. Many of whom are very successful in their careers and professions and S.K. Selama is proud that it is part of their successful stories.

When these ex-pupils are relaxing, they could spare some thoughts for their alma mater. I am sure it is nostalgic to be able to return to this school one day and recall the happy school days they spent here long ago. Of course, years ago, the school looked different then. In fact, photos showed the school in poor condition and the wooden main block looked like a 'cowboy salon' . Pictures of the school then will be pasted in this blog soon and they will surely be a favourite among our ex pupils.
As years passed , S.K. Selama had been slowly transformed into how it looks today. Even now development of its infrastructure has not stopped. On the field, a new block of a four-storeyed building is going to be built. It would be noisy as piling work begins. However, parents, teachers and pupils have waited a long time for this development and they would not mind bearing the noise and discomfort. A little sacrifice won't matter as long as the building is up and end the double session. Studying in the hot afternoons is definately uncondusive.

S.K. Selama had excelled in the field of academic and co-curricular activities. Indeed this success would not have been achieved without the full-cooperation among parents, guardians, teachers, staff and the pupils themselves. Having taught here for 26 years , it is enough for me to proudly say that the school had managed to produce thousands of pupils. A good foundation in English had helped in a way to bring success in their life. So did they excel in Maths, Science , Bahasa Malaysia and other subjects.

Years ago, when S.K. Selama was known as the National Type Government School and when English was used as the medium of instruction, its pupils could speak and write better in English. Even pupils from the 'kampung' as far as Sg. Dendang , Sg Siputeh, Sg Bayor, Ldg Malaya, miles away would come to study here because it was the only English medium school in the Selama district. Many of whom are holding high posts in the government and private sector today.

In public exams like the Year 5 Assessment Test and UPSR or Year 6 Assessment, S.K. Selama still fair excellently beating even town schools in the Larut, Matang and Selama district and has won a placing among the top ten schools. Its position in the Perak state UPSR result analisis recently showed the school placed around the 70th position among 876 primary schools in the state.

All these years our ex pupils have done us proud and hopefully their younger brothers and sisters will follow in their footsteps in producing excellent results not only academically but also in co-curricular activities such as sports,uniformed units and academic supporting activities. We will not be left out in competitions such as choral speaking, story telling, action songs, the RHB-NST Spell-It-Right Challenge and others . Pupils in the past and present have always tried their best and won in the Islamic activities, Malay story-telling and others too. We believe in giving the pupils here opportunities to experience and stand tall among others when they compete with them in these competitions. They are trained to be sporting ,do their very best and present confidently in front of a crowd outside the school.

Don't be surprise, we even have a bowling star. Before it was her brother, Farhan but now 11-year old Nur Fadhlin Arisya bt Ariff has done us proud as the state bowling champ. Now, our darling Fadhlin is preparing for the national level in a centralised training session in Ipoh. Well, this year, even our 12-yr old Abu Ayub is representing Perak at the national level football under 12 competition in Kelantan. We have produced national stars too before. If you all could remember, our nasyid team once won the National Nasyid competition in 1994. If only all its members could return for a reunion , how nice it would be! We must remember our Ustazah Noraini who had passed away .

We have to pay tribute to our longest serving headmaster of 25 years, Mr Anthony Kanikasamy who too had passed away. He was a disciplinarian and had contributed a lot to the education of the pupils then. Another dear headmaster who had passed away was Tn Hj Azahari. Mr Letchumanan and En. Shamsudin Shaari had left the world but are still remembered. Today, we are able to keep in touch with two of our headmasters, Tn Hj Ahmad Isa and Tn Hj Ahmad Yahaya .
Our present headmistress, Pn Hjh Jamaiyah bt Hj Zakaria is doing a good job by continuing to lead the school to further success.

Throughout the years, teachers come and go but they are fondly remembered by their pupils. The school would like to thank them all for having contributed to the success of the school.

On top of all the achievements, we hope to develop pupils here who will grow into useful adults one day possessing good characters as well. Proper character building will help produce excellent pupils and a truly successful person.

Calling all ex -pupils back to the school this June, 13 at 3.00 p.m. is an effort to realise our dream to see the full functioning of the Alumni Committee. With the establishment of the Alumni, it will indeed be an excellent platform to gather all the ex pupils of S.K. Selama back to school or at least be connected to their alma mater again. We are trying to create a networking among the ex pupils wherever they are.

Thanks to the advancement of ICT that we can enjoy surfing the internet, the world of blogging, portals, websites and S.K. Selama now has its own official portal, http://www.skselama.net/. In fact, this blog is linked to it. Some ex pupils accidentally discovered the portal and were excited about it. Many have sent messages and joined the portal too. The alumni form is easily downloaded, filled and sent back to the administrator by email or post. Hopefully, more ex pupils will be able to get in touch with their alma mater. We also welcome all ex teachers to join in our forum and keep in touch with the school. At any time , ex teachers and pupils may visit the school by simply contacting the school authorities.

Well, as an ex-pupil , one should have that special nostalgic feeling and be able to return proudly to this primary school which had played an important role in one's childhood days. It is not much to return to the school for the benefits of the younger generation. One can contribute in all kinds including cash of course, but besides that, it may be in the form of sharing of expertise and training to name a few. Perhaps, ex pupils themselves are able to conduct motivation camps, run football clinics, organise seminars or workshops both for parents and pupils. When it comes to 'gotong-royong' or writing articles , ex pupils can chip in to help. Reunions can be held regularly and trips can be organised to visit beautiful Malaysia or other countries. Carnivals and lots of activities can be planned together and ex pupils far or near can get involved.

The Alumni and the Parent Teacher Association can work hand in hand to contribute to the success of this school and its pupils. Through this effort, we will be able to contribute to nation building. It is a dream to build the nation and society together and its fruits we plant will be enjoyed by all.

S.K. Selama, you are great! The spirit of 'System Is Power', its motto proudly lives on in the hearts of all who love the school.

Welcome to S.K. Selama, Jalan Menteri, Selama, Perak. Through this blog, we can reach out to anyone and spread the news of the school and its pupils. ICT has brought wonders to the school as we can get connected easily now with the existance of the new cITaKU Lab in addition to the school computer laboratory. Pupils in this school always get the opportunity to participate in various activities or events so that they are not left behind. Now, its team consisting of a teacher and 3 pupils is participating in the ICT Web 2.0 competition under Anak Perak Programme. Let us wish them success.

Selama, Perak situated about 50 km north of Taiping is sharing a common border with Selama, Kedah. It is no more a sleepy town as before as there is rapid development here . With the growing number of housing projects, more villagers from Sungai Bayor or Sg Si Puteh are settling down in this town. Therefore, S.K. Selama will be expecting a larger enrolment in the near future.

All parties including the government, the private sector, parents, ex-pupils, teachers , service staf and pupils all play an important role in bringing success to this school. Without cooperation and support , S.K. Selama would not be able to reach success before, today or tommorrow. Therefore, let's join hands and work together.
